Rangoli Indian Chalk Art & More For Family Sunday at Mingei!

chalkart_mingeiMingei International Museum, located within Balboa Park, in San Diego, conducts a fun Family Sunday from Noon-4pm the third Sunday of each month. Mingei’s Family Sunday offers discount admission, of only $5 per family, or $3 for individuals. Attendees can explore the museum’s colorful exhibitions of folk art, craft and design, win a prize for completing a treasure hunt as well as participate in other activities such as storytelling and hands-on projects.

In celebration of Diwali Festival of Lights, visitors may celebrate diversity through art, by participating in a Rangoli Indian Chalk Art activity led by Starla Lewis, of Sunkisses on Sunday, October 21st.

Also, inspired by the Museum’s exhibition TRUE BLUE, Aunt Li-Anne from Aunt Li-Anne’s Story Garden and The Storytellers of San Diego, will lead storytime at 2:30pm. Aunt Li-Anne’s “Clever Tales that Touch the Heart” may take you to meet Strong Willed Princesses, Small but Powerful Heroes, or Masked and Mischievous Godlings! All linked by the Blue Theme, you are invited to travel, laugh and sing, or cry and shout, and above all imagine and transform on our True Blue Journey.

We’ve truly enjoyed the Family Sunday’s we’ve attended, and you can’t beat $5 for the family! The Rangoli Indian Chalk Art craft and storytime are sure to be fun ativities for the kids. Perhaps we’ll see you there!
