The Balboa Park Carousel was built in 1910 by the Herschell Spillman Company, which was known for elaborate, hand-crafted menagerie carousels. It’s one of the few remaining operational carousels of it’s kind. It’s also one of the few remaining carousels with a brass ring game for riders.
The carousel was in several different locations prior to being placed at it’s current location in Balboa Park. It runs from 11am – 5pm on the weekends & holidays, and in the summertime through Labor Day. Young kids might also like the flying ride, located right next to the carousel. Tickets for both may be purchased at the ticket booth next to the carousel. Perhaps we’ll see you there!
