SeaWorld Lunar New Year Celebrates Asian Traditions!

SeaWorld Lunar New Year Celebrates Asian Traditions!

As yearly passholders to SeaWorld San Diego, we visit often. We’re also invited to preview special events on occasion, and recently had the opportunity to experience the sites, sounds, and flavors of the inaugural SeaWorld Lunar New Year Celebration.

SeaWorld Lunar New Year

Family-Friendly Event

The family-friendly SeaWorld Lunar New Year event is free with park admission, and includes live performances such lion dancers, Chinese Heibei acrobats, drummers, and more. Guests receive a red envelope with a special gift inside upon entry through the turnstiles. Gifts range from free drinks to front-of-the line ride passes, to return entry tickets, and more. Be sure to get yours when you enter!

SeaWorld Lunar New Year Character

Character Photo Opps, Animal Encounters & More!

The Lunar New Year festivity area is located just east of Explorer’s Reef. There are some fun character photo opps, including one with an adorable otter character dressed in Asian attire, as well as Shamu dressed in his Lunar New Year best. You’ll also find beautiful Lunar New Year decor in this area, animal encounters, and a shaded seating area as well. Games and food can also be found surrounding the stage, and are an additional fee.

SeaWorld Lunar New Year Lion Dancers

Incredible Entertainment Included With Park Admission

The lion dancers, which perform at the festival area, are absolutely incredible! Our kids, as well as all the other kids around us loved watching them. We highly recommend taking in one of their performances.

SeaWorld Lunar New Year Acrobat
We were in awe of the incredible Chinese acrobats of Heibei! This acrobat show is set at the indoor Mission Bay Theater, and includes chair stacking, hoop diving, plate spinning, acrobatics, and more. Be sure to catch one of the 25 minute performances! The entertainment is comparable to that which you would pay top dollar for at a performance hall or event center.

SeaWorld Lunar New Year Festivities

Vegetarian and Non-Vegetarian Food Options

Asian-inspired cuisine is available for purchase, and includes both vegetarian and non-vegetarian selections, including boa sandwiches, lumpia, spring rolls, pot stickers, noodle soup and more. Yummy desserts and beverages are available too. I never knew I liked macarons as much as I do until I tried the mouth-watering green tea ones available during the event!

Tips For Attending Chargers Training Camp

Chargers Training Camp

Let’s Go Chargers, Let’s Go (clap-clap-clap)!!! Did you know that attending Chargers Training Camp is FREE?!? Yep, there’s absolutely no fee to attend one of the San Diego Chargers Training Camp events at the Chargers training facility, on Murphy Canyon Rd., in San Diego.

We attended our first Chargers Training Camp last year, in 2013. Going to Camp allows the fans to get a different perspective than they would watching the team at Qualcomm Stadium. It’s a much more intimate setting; often with opportunities to meet some of the Chargers players after practice.

FREE Disney’s Planes: Fire & Rescue Activities Plus Film Review!

Disney’s Planes: Fire & Rescue

My 6 year old son and I enjoyed a pre-screening of Disney’s Planes: Fire & Rescue, the all-new film preceding Disney Planes. I was a little apprehensive about the film prior to viewing it, as I knew it had only been one short year since the original Planes had been released. I didn’t think one one year would be sufficient enough time for the production to be as good as the original, but I was wrong. We actually enjoyed Disney’s Planes: Fire & Rescue even more than the original Planes!

Planning Your Child’s First Trip To Disneyland!

Planning Your Child’s First Trip To Disneyland!

Mickey's Toontown at Disneyland
If you’re like me, planning your child’s first trip to Disneyland is so exciting! The memories you have from your own early visits to The Happiest Place On Earth flood into your mind, thinking about the moment you enter the gates, hearing the whistle of the steam train, and feel the excitement on Main Street. At least that’s how it was for me planning our daughter’s first trip to Disneyland!

5 Things We Love About Knott’s Berry Bloom!

Knott’s Berry Bloom Is Springtastic!

Knott's Berry Bloom ~ www.socalwithkids.com
We loved going to Knott’s last year for Berry Bloom, their Springtime event, and are excited to be invited back to experience it again this year. When we went a year ago we were amazed at how the Park was transformed by the decor. Huge blooming flower decorations, and beautiful floral chalk drawings were found throughout Knott’s. We visit lots of Southern California theme parks, but hadn’t experienced this level of Spring festivities elsewhere.

Create Favorite Family Fun Moments With A Pass To Knott’s!

Favorite Family Fun Moments At Knott’s

Family Fun At Knott's
Over the past year and a half we’ve been fortunate to be invited to visit Knott’s Berry Farm, to share information about events, Park renovations, and special offers on tickets and Season Passes. We’ve loved visiting America’s First Theme Park with the family, and look forward to creating new memories there each visit. Some of our favorite family fun moments at Knott’s include the following:

• Knott’s Berry Bloom •

knottsberrybloom
Knott’s decorates the Park from head to toe in the Spring for Knott’s Berry Bloom. We absolutely loved watching our kids go from station to station, getting their special event cards stamped, while looking for Snoopy. The decor was fun and colorful, and there were so many great opportunities for us to stop and take fun Springtime photos. Lots of memories made!

• Knott’s Soak City •

Just across the street from Knott’s Berry Farm is their water park, Knott’s Soak City OC. We loved relaxing down the Lazy River, and playing in the water. Seeing the joy on our daughter’s face as she rose up and down with the waves on Tidal Wave Bay was one of those moments I will never forget.

• Camp Spooky •

Camp Spooky

Our kids are still young, so we’re all about Cheer, Not Fear, at Halloween. Camp Spooky is held in the Camp Snoopy area of Knott’s, which is perfect for the littles. Camp Spooky is decorated in fun seasonal decor, with ample opportunities for fun photos, and they set up treat stations for the kids to trick-or-treat in a safe and fun environment. Visiting Camp Spooky really got us in the Halloween spirit!

• Knott’s Merry Farm •

Merry Farm

From the holiday music played overhead, to the festive decor, to Santa’s Cabin, many of our favorite family fun moments have been made during Knott’s Merry Farm! We’ve loved seeing Snoopy dressed up in his Santa outfit, taking a picture with Jolly St. Nick, and watching the incredible ice skating show. We’ve always left Merry Farm with that warm, Christmas spirit.

• Knott’s New Year’s Eve •

knottsnye

We’ve celebrated two New Year’s Eves at Knott’s now, one in the daytime, and once we arrived in the evening, and stayed until Midnight! Knott’s NYE is family-friendly, and we’ve loved the party hats, live entertainment, and riding the rides at night. The fireworks were spectacular, lasting over 10 minutes this past New Year’s Eve!

• The Food •

Knott's Cookiewich
From the desserts to Mrs. Knotts’ melt in your mouth biscuits, Knott’s Berry Farm has delicious food! It’s very rare that we leave without buying a Cookiewich, and splitting it amongst the family. They’re our favorite, and very reasonably priced.

SnowWorld and Holiday Cheer During Christmas At SeaWorld® San Diego

SnowWorld and Holiday Cheer At SeaWorld®

SnowWorld
As longtime passhholders, we’ve spent lots of hours at SnowWorld at SeaWorld® San Diego. As a child, I recall the event being held on the hill which is now below the rollercoaster Manta. Many a day I would spend hiking up, and sledding down that hill with my personal sled in hand, decked out in a heavy snow jacket, boots, and winter gloves.

Numerous Free, Fun, & Interactive Learning Experiences In One Spot!

“We’re creating a collaborative learning environment for individuals, children and families to
incorporate different activities and ideologies into their daily lives,” said co-producer Rosa
Knight, mother of 2. “Historically it has been extremely difficult to find all this information in
one place and even more challenging to try and explore them simultaneously. Finding children’s
passion is key to being active and therefore we’ve created interactive demos to help them find
it through fun activities. This is something my family has experienced first-hand by attending
numerous camps and classes spread all around the county. I’ve seen the positive impact these
experiences have had on my family and now I want to share the best-of-the-best in one
convenient location for all to enjoy.”
